Advent Calendar and Competitions!
It's nearly Christmas! Advent starts on the first Sunday after Saint Andrew's day (November 30th) and continues through the
next four Sundays that will lead up to Christmas day. Advent is also a time of preparation for Christmas, a time to decorate the
house and Christmas tree. A time to buy presents and send cards.
Here at SOL we've decided to give all our members a present or two as well. You all give so much throughout the year by donating
your money, time and goods, entering competitions and attending events, so this is our chance to say 'Thank You' and to give
something back to you.
Every day from the 1st of December until Christmas Day a door on the Advent Calendar can be opened - and there will be
something for you to do! A question, a quiz - who knows? That's what makes it so exciting!
There will be a prize every day, some big, some small, and on Christmas Day itself a very special competition for a super prize!
And best of all, in appreciation that at this time of year we're all watching the pennies - it's all free to enter!
Please do take time to have a go each day, and thank you all for being a part of SOL.
Merry Christmas from the SOL Admin Team !!!!.

New Website, New Logo.
It's here at last - our new website, featuring our new look logo!
Our original 3 dog logo now has the dogs surrounded by a blue banded life ring to more clearly get the rescue message across
and it is accompanied by our slogan "A lifeline for Sighthounds".
Our website will continue to bring you all our latest news and information, and to be a first port of call if you're trying
to find a sighthound welfare organisation. We're always open to suggestions so feel free to contact our webmaster with any
suggestions.
In the next few weeks more content will be updated, so please bear with us while these important changes are carried out.

50,000 Posts!
What a lot of chat, news, pics of hounds and fun we have had!
Of course a lot of the posts were also concerned with the very serious side of sighthound welfare: the abused, the homeless, the abandoned, the vile Greyhound racing industry.
We have applauded the brave people who spend all their lives dealing with other people's cast-off dogs, nursing the injured back to health and rehabilitating the traumatised.
We have given thanks too to people who work tirelessly to stop the abuse and to spread the word to educate those who don't realise the extent of the horrors, and to those who bravely campaign to change the world for the hounds.
And who posted the 50,000th message? It was Marticogo, also known as Martin and one of the many people to count themselves honoured to have a WJ dog in their family. To mark the occasion Martin will receive one of the gorgeous whippet keyrings made by our very own Steve Jones.
For the rest of us they are available in our merchandise section for £1:50 each with p & p an extra 30 pence, or free if you order 2 or more. 50 pence from each one sold goes to SOL.

A Tumble Drier for Lizzies Barn.
Lizzie's Barn animal sanctuary suffered catastrophic flooding at the beginning of November and apart from losing a lot of food and other goods and having to move to higher ground within the sanctuary they were left with alot of soggy bedding and some very unhappy dogs. The older residents particularly were in need of warm, dry bedding.
SOL's Emergency Fund was able to provide a brand new Hotpoint tumble drier complete with delivery and a 3 year guarantee - so for the next three years at least there will be soft, fluffy and warm beds for needy dogs.
